CRITIC REVIEWS
“Sonja Foster is one of the most talented violinists in Atlanta... As violin fanciers know, the aforementioned works of Saint-Saens, Sarasate and Debussy are written for virtuosos. Even to get through them requires a substantial amount of technical facility. She certainly has that. She produces a large, rich tone throughout the violin’s entire range. She takes chances; she is confident to phrase romantically, with generous portamento and agogic freedom. She is unafraid to play very softly or to attack with enormous energy, her coloristic palette is wide. And she does not play everything the same way. Her Mozart exhibited an appropriate lightness with airy textures, flowing tempos, and a gentle pulse. Brahms was forceful in the outer sections, meltingly warm in the middle section. And her Saint-Saens was sensitive to the “ capricious “ nature of that popular showpiece.”

.. a goddess ascended the platform.. a dazzling prodigy..one of her finest performance qualities is her ability to fade out of the picture and bring into focus the captivating vibrance and prismatic colors within each piece. Her music is illuminated through her translucence, though we never lose touch with her personal influence and interpretation.”
